Do you play a brass instrument? Have you missed playing with your friends, or simply never had the opportunity?
Join us for a fun-packed week on the 26th – 30th July to play, socialise and make music together. With an informal performance at the end of the week on the 30th July.
Over the week children will be able to experience the joy of playing together. Whether you are at the beginning of your musical journey or have simply missed playing with others, this week will be led by dedicated and experienced tutors who will support and guide the young musicians through the week.
Please note those attending the Brass Band week should be Grade 1-5 to get the most out of the week.
Outline of a typical day:
After welcoming students and getting them settled participants will warm up together, singing and moving their bodies, getting their minds ready for a fun and productive day. Students will then split into smaller groups with their dedicated sectional leaders, where they will learn repertoire suitable for their instrument and abilities. They will also be coming together as one fantastic brass band, allowing the students to enjoy learning about playing in a brass band with their peers.
Packed lunches will be eaten hopefully in the sunshine (we do have a large hall space for rainy days, just in case).
After lunch, the children will enjoy a variety of activities that will keep your children engaged until home-time!
The safety of our participants is our utmost priority and they will need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and water bottle with them – all allergies and medical information will be required before the event.
Participants will also be required to comply with any Covid-19 restrictions in place at the time.
We offer a variety of bursaries and subsidised instrumental opportunities for children and young people for further information see here
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 Colston Hall changed its name to Bristol Beacon, and this means we’re changing too.
Bristol Plays Music is run by Bristol Music Trust, the charity that also runs the venue formerly known as Colston Hall. These two organisations will soon unite under one name: Bristol Beacon.
