Welcome to our Music Curriculum for Bristol.
Here you will find a range of resources that span Primary and Secondary, which have been developed in consultation with teachers and tailored to Bristol Schools.
Our award winning Primary Curriculum: Get on Board was launched in the Autumn of 2015 and is now used in schools across Bristol and surrounding areas.
Our secondary Curriculum launched in Autumn 2017, developed by Bristol Plays Music in consultation with teachers and tailored to Bristol Secondary Schools. It will build to a complete resource that spans Year 7 to Year 11. The first phase of lesson plans have been developed by leading industry specialists.
The schemes have been split into themes, Wallace and Gromit’s Film Music Unit and A Pathway to a Piece are currently live.
Later in the year we will launch schemes of work on Minimalism, Blues and Jazz and a range of GCSE Music Listening exercises.
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 Colston Hall changed its name to Bristol Beacon, and this means we’re changing too.
Bristol Plays Music is run by Bristol Music Trust, the charity that also runs the venue formerly known as Colston Hall. These two organisations will soon unite under one name: Bristol Beacon.
