If you are aged 12-18, and Grade 7+ on your chosen instrument, now is your chance to audition to join THE city’s youth orchestra!
Bristol Youth Orchestra is the city’s flagship instrumental ensemble featuring over 70 of the most talented young musicians in Bristol. The orchestra rehearses weekly and performs the great works of the orchestral repertoire as well as ambitious new commissions. Bristol Youth Orchestra strives to give talented young musicians a world-class music education and experience to encourage a future in music.
The orchestra holds the prestigious position of being one of the Colston Hall Young Companies in Residence, a talent development programme for young classical and creative musicians.
What to expect at the audition:
· A 10-minute audition with sectional tutors from Bristol Youth Orchestra
· You will need to prepare a short piece of unaccompanied music which you feel reflects your current playing standard
· You will be asked to sight-read a short extract and will be asked to play one or two scales
We’re looking to recruit members across the whole orchestra but if you play: Viola, Double Bass, Oboe, Bassoon, French Horn, Tuba or Percussion and are working at Grade 6+ please contact rhian.cocker[ATSIGN]bristolplaysmusic.org
Closing date for applications is 31 May 2020.
In light of the recent coronavirus outbreak audition dates and procedure will be confirmed at a later date.
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 Colston Hall changed its name to Bristol Beacon, and this means we’re changing too.
Bristol Plays Music is run by Bristol Music Trust, the charity that also runs the venue formerly known as Colston Hall. These two organisations will soon unite under one name: Bristol Beacon.
