If you are aged 12-18, and are at Grade 7+ on your chosen instrument, now is your chance to audition to join Bristol’s best youth orchestra! We’re still looking to recruit members in certain areas of orchestra, especially French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba and Percussion.

Bristol Youth Orchestra is the city’s flagship instrumental ensemble featuring over 70 of the most talented young musicians in Bristol. Part of the Bristol Centre for Musicians the orchestra rehearses every Saturday morning during term time at Bristol Cathedral Choir School, performing 2 concerts a year, 1 at Christmas and another around Easter.
Bristol Youth Orchestra strives to give talented young musicians a world-class music education and experience to encourage a future in music. The orchestra holds the prestigious position of being one of the Bristol Beacon Young Companies in Residence, a talent development programme for young classical and creative musicians.
Successful applicants will also be given the opportunity to join the orchestra on Tour to France in summer 2022!
What to expect at the audition:
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 Colston Hall changed its name to Bristol Beacon, and this means we’re changing too.
Bristol Plays Music is run by Bristol Music Trust, the charity that also runs the venue formerly known as Colston Hall. These two organisations will soon unite under one name: Bristol Beacon.
