Have a budding singer in your midst? NOW is their chance to audition to join the city’s leading youth choir!
The Bristol Youth Choir is made up of three choirs with over a hundred and twenty young people from all over Bristol performing choral music of all styles. Rehearsing weekly on Friday evenings during term time and giving up to five concerts a year, the Bristol Youth Choir have also performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the Ten Pieces Proms, have appeared on BBC Breakfast, The One Show, BBC One’s Songs of Praise and in 2015 broadcast on Radio 3 and BBC Bristol as part of BBC Music Day.
They also hold the prestigious position of being one of the Colston Hall Young Companies in Residence, a talent development programme for young classical and creative musicians.
The Choir is auditioning for new members to join the following sections
Juniors (school years 3-5)
Intermediates (school years 6-7)
Seniors (school years 8-13)
What they can expect at the audition
The informal audition will be about 10 minutes and include some simple singing exercises. Singers are invited to bring along a song if they would like although this is not essential.
Closing date for applications is Friday 24 May at 5pm with auditions taking place on Monday 24 June and Friday 5 July. Your audition time will be confirmed after the closing date.
On Wednesday 23 September 2020 Colston Hall changed its name to Bristol Beacon, and this means we’re changing too.
Bristol Plays Music is run by Bristol Music Trust, the charity that also runs the venue formerly known as Colston Hall. These two organisations will soon unite under one name: Bristol Beacon.
